Horizon Performing Arts is ecstatic to welcome Tony Nominee, Gavin Lee to teach with us this summer through the Elev8 Workshop Series!
WHO: Ages 13-18 (Must be between these ages on July 30, 2019)
WHAT: A Spongbob Workshop: A song and dance workshop taught by Tony nominee, Gavin Lee featuring original choreography and songs from the smash hit Broadway Musical, SPONEGBOB SQUAREPANTS
WHEN: July 30th from 3-6PM & July 31st from 11AM-2PM
WHERE: The Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre in Ann Arbor (911 N University Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48109)
COST: $150 (Includes a spot in both days of the workshop)
HOW TO REGISTER: Parents/Guardians of students interested should call Horizon Performing Arts at 734-546-8784 so we can reserve your student’s spot in the workshop and process your payment over the phone. No email reservations will be accepted. Please leave a voicemail with your name, your child’s name, and a phone number to call back to.
Spots are limited and will only be confirmed with payment. Students must be able to attend both days of the workshop for the entire three hours each day in order to register. Spots in the workshops are reserved on a first come, first serve basis. Horizon Performing Arts will return calls in the order we received them.
Once your payment has been processed and your student’s spot in the workshop has been reserved, you will be asked for your email so that Horizon Performing Arts can send you our Emergency Contact Form that will need to be submitted prior to the workshop.
NOTE: Parents/guardians will not be permitted in the teaching space during the workshop and will be asked to remain in the lobby if they choose to stay at the theatre.

About Gavin Lee
Gavin recently finished performing in SpongeBob SquarePants, the Broadway Musical. He received a Tony Award nomination and won the Drama Desk Award for originating the role of Squidward Q. Tentacles. Before this he played Thenadier in the Broadway revival of Les Miserables. He originated the role of Bert in the West End and Broadway productions of Mary Poppins for which he was Olivier and Tony Award nominated as well as winning a Drama Desk and Theatre World Award. While in NYC, Gavin has appeared at Carnagie Hall in Showboat and in the World Premier of Holiday Inn at Goodspeed Opera House. On TV, he has guest starred in Law and Order SUV and The Good Wife. He was seen as a regular in the final season of White Collar.
His other London credits include leading roles in Top Hat, Crazy For You, Peggy Sue Got Married. Also Me and My Girl, Over My Shoulder, Oklahoma and Contact. His regional theatre credits include Singin’ In The Rain, Snoopy, Noel Coward’s Masterpieces, Of Thee I Sing, Saturday Night, Alan Ayckbourn’s Whenever and Chicago.
Gavin has performed his solo caberet in New York, Chicago and on Disney Cruises
Horizon Performing Arts is proud to announce our partnership with Puzzle Players for a wonderful summer camp experience!
Founded by Olivia Rhoades and Adrienna Bartnicki, Puzzle Players exists to facilitate drama and play for youth experiencing symptoms of autism or developmental delay. Their mission is to provide a sensory friendly and encouraging environment for children of all ages and abilities to explore their world and develop functional skills through play.
Join us for this summer camp where children of all abilities will explore drama skills that directly apply to real life social situations. Activities will focus on functional engagement and communication all while rehearsing for a final performance. Using play as a basis for all learning, children will participate in music, dance, crafts, games and snack preparation. Instructors are experienced in the field of special education and can’t wait to welcome your child to the stage!
This is a two week summer camp that will be held June 17th-21st & June 24th- 28th 2019.
Our camp will last three hours each day (Monday-Friday) and will take place at the “Off-Center” at Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti (76 N Huron St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197)
An A.M. Session of the Puzzle Players Summer Camp will be offered for Elementary school students from 9AM- 12PM and a P.M. Session will be offered from 1PM- 4PM for Middle School and High School Students.
To ensure that students will have the best possible experience, camp size for each session is limited so register today!
